Basic Conversions
4 questionsHow do I convert pixels to inches?
Divide the pixel value by the PPI (pixels per inch). Formula: inches = pixels ÷ PPI. For example, 200 px at 96 PPI = 200 ÷ 96 = 2.083 inches. Use the calculator on the homepage for instant results.
How do I convert inches to pixels?
Multiply inches by the PPI. Formula: pixels = inches × PPI. At 96 PPI: 2 inches × 96 = 192 pixels. At 300 PPI: 2 inches × 300 = 600 pixels.
How many pixels are in one inch?
Exactly the PPI value. At 96 PPI (standard screens), 1 inch = 96 pixels. At 300 PPI (print), 1 inch = 300 pixels. The number varies by display or print density.
How do I convert pixels to centimeters or millimeters?
First convert to inches (pixels ÷ PPI), then multiply by 2.54 for centimeters or 25.4 for millimeters. Our calculator shows all three units simultaneously.

PPI & DPI
5 questionsWhat is PPI and why does it matter?
PPI (pixels per inch) is the density of pixels on a display. It determines how large a pixel appears physically. A higher PPI means smaller, sharper pixels. It's the key variable in any pixel-to-inch conversion.
What is the difference between PPI and DPI?
PPI (pixels per inch) is a screen metric — it measures digital pixel density. DPI (dots per inch) is a print metric — it measures physical ink dots. In practice they are used interchangeably when converting between digital dimensions and physical print sizes.
What PPI should I use for web design?
96 PPI is the Windows CSS standard and the most common logical screen PPI. Use 72 PPI for legacy Mac or older web contexts. For Retina/HiDPI screens, design at 1× logical pixels — the screen handles physical density automatically.
How many pixels per inch at 300 DPI?
300 pixels per inch. 300 DPI/PPI is the professional standard for print — brochures, business cards, magazines, and photo prints. Any image intended for print should be prepared at 300 DPI minimum.
What PPI do iPhone and Android phones use?
Modern flagship phones use 326–505 PPI. iPhone 15 Pro: 460 PPI. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: 505 PPI. Google Pixel 8 Pro: 489 PPI. You can enter any custom PPI in our calculator.

Print & Image Size
5 questionsWhat pixel size do I need for A4 at 300 DPI?
2480 × 3508 pixels. This is the standard canvas size for A4 paper (8.27 × 11.69 inches) at 300 DPI. For US Letter (8.5 × 11 inches) at 300 DPI: 2550 × 3300 pixels.
1080 pixels to inches — how much is it?
It depends on PPI. At 96 PPI: 1080 ÷ 96 = 11.25 inches. At 300 PPI: 1080 ÷ 300 = 3.6 inches. Enter 1080 in the Pixels field on the homepage and select your PPI to get exact results.
How do I convert 2 inches to pixels?
Multiply by your PPI. At 96 PPI: 2 × 96 = 192 pixels. At 300 PPI: 2 × 300 = 600 pixels. Use the Inches field in the converter and the pixel value updates live.
What is 1920 × 1080 pixels in inches?
At 96 PPI: 20 × 11.25 inches. At 300 PPI: 6.4 × 3.6 inches. The physical size depends entirely on the output PPI — the same pixel count produces very different sizes on screen vs. in print.
How do I find the maximum print size of a photo?
Divide the pixel dimensions by 300 (your target print DPI). A 4000 × 3000 px photo at 300 DPI prints at 13.3 × 10 inches. Use the Image Size calculator on the homepage to check this instantly.

Using the Calculator
4 questionsHow do I use the pixel to inch converter?
Select or enter a PPI value using the dropdown or Custom PPI field. Then type either a pixel or inch value — the other field and all unit outputs (inches, cm, mm) update instantly as you type. No button needed.
Can I calculate pixels, DPI, PPI, inches, mm, and cm all in one tool?
Yes — the primary converter handles pixels ↔ inches ↔ cm ↔ mm simultaneously. The Image Size calculator converts full W × H pixel dimensions to physical print size including diagonal. All values update live.
Does the calculator store my data?
No. All calculations run entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to any server. We don't log your inputs, create accounts, or store any values. You can verify this by using the tool offline.
Can I use a custom PPI value?
Yes. Select "Custom PPI…" from the PPI dropdown and enter any value from 1 upward. This lets you match the exact pixel density of any device, printer, or specification.

Screens & Retina
3 questionsWhat is a Retina display?
Retina is Apple's term for displays with a pixel density high enough that individual pixels are imperceptible at a normal viewing distance — typically 220+ PPI for laptops and 300+ PPI for phones. The underlying concept is device pixel ratio (DPR).
How does Retina affect pixel to inch conversions?
On a 2× Retina screen, every CSS logical pixel is rendered using 4 physical pixels (2×2). For web design, use 96 PPI (logical). For checking actual physical screen dimensions, use the device's true PPI (e.g. 254 PPI for MacBook Pro 14").
How many pixels make an inch on an iPhone?
The iPhone 15 and 15 Pro use 460 PPI, meaning 460 pixels fit in one physical inch of screen. Older models (iPhone SE) use 326 PPI. Enter your device's PPI in the Custom PPI field for exact conversions.
